A Data Analyst is like a translator between data and business.

Main tasks:

  1. Collect data – from Excel files, databases, surveys, websites, etc.

  2. Clean data – remove errors, duplicates, missing values.

  3. Analyze data – use formulas, SQL queries, pivot tables, statistics.

  4. Visualize data – create charts, dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Excel).

  5. Share insights – explain results in plain language to managers.


Example in a company:
Let’s say you work at Swiggy/Zomato as a Data Analyst.

  • Data: orders from different cities.

  • You clean the data (remove test orders, missing entries).

  • You analyze:

    • Which city orders the most biryani?

    • At what time do orders peak?

  • You visualize: a chart showing “Hyderabad = top biryani city”.

  • You present: “If we add more delivery partners in Hyderabad on weekends, sales will increase.”
